CHIPOTLE IS INVESTING IN
THE NEXT GENERATION OF CATTLE FARMERS

The Chipotle Cultivate Foundation and National Young Farmers Coalition partnered to launch the Chipotle Seed Grants Program, offering $5,000 to 50 farmers under the age of 40. Because we believe there is a real connection between how food is raised, grown and sourced, and how it tastes.

Holly Farm

Generations of the Holly family have raised beef cattle on a small scale on their farm in East Texas. Now it’s Don Holly’s turn. This young farmer has taken over ownership and the vision for Holly Farm, and plans to apply his grant to expand on his family’s legacy, growing their cattle operation and even implementing an on-farm apiary.

Big C Farms

For Lonnie Sigler of Big C Farms, it’s not necessarily about acquiring more land. It’s about increasing efficiency on the Alabama farm’s existing acreage by using his grant to produce more hay for rotational grazing. Doing so would allow Big C’s cattle to graze more days of the year, including the winter, and help redirect resources towards fertilizer and planting.

Jejunity Farms

Lifting beginning farmers up is part of the mission at Jejunity Farms. Ronald Davis of Jejunity is a beginning farmer himself and sees the need for a support center for limited-resource or disadvantaged farmers, as well as those just starting out. With the help of grant funding, he can offer that support and improve efficiency on the farm with cross fencing and proper fertilization.
